Brian Yee - Managing Director

Brian is the founding Director of MSH Consulting and has been providing strategic consulting advice to New Zealand companies for over 20 years. Prior to establishing MSH in 1999, Brian held senior roles in international consultancies in Wellington and London, before joining the Treasury as Chief Analyst. Brian’s greatest strength lies in his ability to frame complex issues in a simple way and apply powerful thinking at the logical level to get to the core essence of an organisation’s opportunities and challenges. Brian has worked closely with Executive leadership teams across a breadth of large organisations, to clarify their thinking and help them achieve successful outcomes. He has a real passion for defining the value of strategy, then ensuring that the organisation can realistically deliver the benefits to all stakeholders.

Andrew Darlington - Director

Andrew is a Director of MSH Consulting, and brings to the team significant expertise in operations research. He received a Bachelor of Applied Science (Hons), majoring in Computational Modelling from the University of Otago. Since joining MSH in 2008, Andrew has gained a wealth of experience leading successful assignments for large clients in the public and private sectors. He is recognised not only for his excellent modelling skills, but for his ability to provide clarity and logic when faced with a particularly challenging strategic issue. Andrew is passionate about delivering practical and useable results, and his key strength lies in his ability to tailor the MSH approach to address the unique issues of the client.

joel wong-toi knight - Consultant

Joel completed his studies at Victoria University of Wellington, graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce in Management and International Business. During his studies, Joel enjoyed solving complex problems by developing innovative solutions that focused on the crux of the issue. Alongside his studies, he worked for Ignite Consultants on a short-term project, working closely with clientele to achieve environmentally sustainable outcomes. In doing so, he gained management consulting skills relating to data analysis for creating insights on how to expand the customer base. Joel has an ability to effectively synthesise information and approach issues from a unique perspective. In his prior role in Medical Administration, Joel frequently engaged on a day-to-day basis with individual patients, during which he developed an enthusiasm for client interaction. His approachable nature allows him to create meaningful relationships with clients, and he is passionate about using his diverse skillset to bring fresh thinking to the table when developing strategies in a team environment.

James Naylor - CONSULTANT

James is a graduate from the University of Otago where he completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Pharmacology (First Class) with a minor in Neuroscience. James appreciated the challenging nature of his studies and the research and critical analysis skills he gained from learning about complex health issues. Having completed research into Parkinson’s disease in his final year of study, he enjoys technical and analytical problem solving geared towards helping others. During a short-term project as a submissions analyst at MartinJenkins, James analysed a wide range of submissions concerning large-scale legislative reform. This experience introduced James to qualitative data analysis and stimulated a desire to learn about the diverse and impactful issues consultants are faced with. It also provided a significant insight into how policy change affects laypeople to government. As a former Special Olympics powerlifting coach and support care worker, James likes to take an empathetic but logical approach to helping others work through their problems, and is experienced in delivering concise and reasoned instruction. James is motivated by effecting positive change and enjoys using his critical thinking and research skills to advise clients on how to make such change occur.

Grace carr - CONSULTANT

Grace completed her studies at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Environmental Studies with a minor in Philosophy, and First Class Honours in Geography. She built an interdisciplinary skill set and knowledge base to address ‘wicked problems’, hoping to enact positive social change for the people and the planet. Whilst at Victoria University, she worked as a research assistant for a book on applied statistics to social science phenomena, a head tutor for a course on gender, race, and development, and served on the board of the Students’ Association. She has also interned at the Department of Conservation, helping to develop new legislation for the sustainable management of the Hauraki Gulf. This has given Grace experience in governance, engaging with diverse perspectives and stakeholders, and the ability to navigate intricate legal, regulatory, and legislative systems. Grace is first and foremost passionate about people, she endeavours to use her skills and knowledge to build relationships, enabling clients to achieve their goals and visions.

sharon yee - office manager

Sharon has been the office manager at MSH for over 10 years and is an integral part of the organisation. She is the smiling face as you enter our office, and does all the work behind the scenes to make sure everything runs effortlessly here at MSH. Sharon is highly experienced with office management & administration, and makes sure clients always have the smoothest experience possible.

scout - pawlicy consultant

Scout is our expert in all things canine. He is often spotted in the office reflecting deeply on big strategic issues (while chewing on a toy). He is a critical member of the team in write-ups, always chipping in with helpful suggestions (when he's not napping).
